19th Annual Dignified Disposal of Unserviceable American Flags Ceremony

The American Legion of District #4 in combination with Canadian Valley Electric Cooperative (CVEC) in Seminole, has scheduled the 19th Annual Dignified Disposal of Unserviceable American Flags ceremony on Tuesday, October 8th, 2019. We are once again inviting all middle and high school students in the CVEC service area to enter our contest by submitting a one-page essay titled:

“What The Flag Means To Me”

Two prizes will be awarded; one to a middle school student and the other to a high school student. Each winner will be awarded and presented a $250.00 cash scholarship. The winning students will be requested to read their essays at the ceremony.

Please encourage all of your students to write and submit their essays via mail, email, or fax to:

Please make sure the cover sheet is filled out completely and submitted with each essay. Students shall write their name, school, and grade level on their essays. The essays must be postmarked or received by midnight Wednesday, September 25th, 2019.

The ceremony will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 8th, 2019 at CVEC Headquarters located at the intersection of I-40 and Highway 99/ US 377 and is open to the public. Please invite all of your students to attend. Complimentary hamburgers, hot dogs and soft drinks will be served.
