CVEC Announces New Rate Structure—Lower the Kilowatt-Hour Charge
Canadian Valley Electric Cooperative (CVEC) is implementing a new rate structure starting in November for residential and small commercial customers that lowers the kilowatt-hour (kWh) charge 6% - 7% while adding a small demand charge. For the average residential and small commercial member, this change will result in zero impact to the overall bill. This is not a rate increase, it is a revenue neutral structure change only.
The demand charge is calculated using a home or business’s highest one-hour energy use during two peak time periods: 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Members can find their demand usage listed on their bill under Current Service Detail.
Members who have existing solar systems as of November 1, 2025, will remain on the current rate structure for the next five years or may choose to update to the new structure at any time.
